Bio

Originally from Michigan, I grew up loving art and nature, particularly my beautiful Lake Michigan.

Pyrophytic

I attended Michigan State University, studying art from an interdisciplinary standpoint. I have shown my artwork in galleries and I’ve worked in museums in the areas of education and interpretation.

Moving to California 1983, I continued studies in art, anthropology and museum education at San Francisco State University and UCLA. I spent 30 years working with elementary school age kids in an art-based program. Experiencing art with kids was as enriching for me as for them. Sadly, the pandemic brought an abrupt halt to this career. But, like a pyrophytic plant that uses a wildfire as an opportunity to thrive, I've turned to art as a daily practice.

In 2022 I returned to Grand Rapids Michigan, where I can be found in my studio, painting.
